For most of my life, I didn’t just struggle with anxiety—I lived in it. Overcoming anxiety wasn’t possible while I held a misunderstanding of what anxiety was.

I overthought everything. I’d replay conversations in my head for hours, convinced I’d said something wrong. I took things personally—every silence, every shift in tone—assuming I had disappointed someone. If someone didn’t respond to a message, I assumed they were upset. If plans changed, I took it as rejection.

Overcoming Anxiety was not easy. Anxiety wasn’t just a feeling I had once in a while—it was the lens I saw life through. And even as a believer, I assumed this was just how I’d always be. I had to refocus my priorities and thought life to even align myself toward freedom.

But here’s what I’ve learned: anxiety is real, but it’s not final. You don’t have to settle for a life of emotional spiraling. You don’t have to live as a slave to fear, overthinking, and self-doubt. Because Jesus didn’t come to manage our anxiety—He came to set us free from it.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
— Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

That verse used to feel like pressure. “Don’t be anxious.”
But now I read it as an invitation: Come to Me. I’ll carry what’s crushing you.


💛 Finding Truth in the Middle of Anxiety

Through prayer, journaling, and spending time in God’s Word, I began to learn what anxiety really was: a signal, not a sentence. It was my soul alerting me that I needed to surrender the area weighing in on me and not over-control.

I also began to recognize that I didn’t have to fix myself before coming to God. He wasn’t waiting for me to be strong—He was my strength. It was a moment of vulnerability before the Lord.

One of the most healing things I’ve done is create space to bring my anxious thoughts to God—honestly and consistently. Not perfectly. Just prayerfully. Daily. Weekly. Monthly. Yearly.
