Currently reading in Judges 13 about the story of Manoah and his wife and the prophecy spoken over them. They will become Samson’s parents. The Lord begins to speak to them prophetically of Samson being born and what he is called to accomplish.
Think about their story for a moment. An angel appeared to Manoah’s wife and tells her “I know you are barren, but you will have a son. He will bring the Israelites out of bondage, but here are a few guidelines in which you must live by for that to take place. You can’t drink wine or strong drink and you can’t eat anything unclean.” They pray and seek God for guidance desiring an explanation. What this will look like as time passes. Appearing again, the angel reiterates the same guidelines.
Importance on understanding prophecy.
Manoah’s wife could not have lived by the guidelines set forth for Samson’s call and yet still had a son. The prophetic word of Samson being born would still come to pass, but could she have limited the full impact? Could her actions limit the atmosphere for Samson’s prophetic word to reach full potential.
As I was meditating on the story, the Holy Spirit spoke directly to me catching me off guard! He said “There are areas of your life where you are barren, but I have spoken prophetic words over you through prophets and prophetic dreams. These prophetic words and directions are for me and my families life. As I look at things beginning to happen in our life, I can see the prophetic words starting to unfold.
I heard the Lord question me…. What are you eating and drinking spiritually?
There are guidelines in place that as Christians we are called to follow. These guidelines come in the form of convictions and nudges from the spirit that we are to obey. Some are guidelines we are all to follow, while other are specific to walking in our calling. I felt the Lord illuminating within me areas I needed to pay closer attention to.
I felt the Lord ask me “Are you heeding them?” Are there other things I allow to quench my thirst that is not from the Lord? He says “Come to me and never thirst again”, but do I? Where am I getting my nourishment and strength from? Am I digesting the Word of God and taking it literal for my life?
What is my heart posture for the prophetic?
Is my lifestyle and heart postured so that the prophetic words will manifest to the fullest potential in my life? Am I settling to see the prophetic words barely manifest, or am I aligning with the guidelines to have the fullest degree manifest as possible.
Lord, show me what guidelines you have for me personally to live by. Reveal the areas to me where I find nourishment outside of you. Thank you for your grace and love as we continue this journey of growing deeper in you!
